Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most successful players in modern soccer. Also often toute as the best player ever, is sure to bring Binance more success.
“Together, we’ll give you the opportunity to own an iconic piece of sports history,” wrote the Manchester United forward. “My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
The soccer star’s deal with the cryptocurrency exchange platform came weeks after Binance announced its sponsorship of The Weeknd’s upcoming world tour.
The CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao has praised the soccer star for his accomplishment in sport. He said that it is an honor and is proud to be associate with him, saying that Ronaldo has “gone beyond sports to become an idol in many areas.”
“He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent, and charity work,” said Zhao.
The Binance team is eager to give Ronaldo fans “unique opportunities” that they might not be able to find anywhere else.
Last year, a Ronaldo NFT went up for auction on the fantasy football-themed Sorare platform and sold out to a buyer for $400,000 despite people’s expectations that it would sell for about $1 million.
