With crypto assets dominating forums in the past decade, it was only a matter of time before other major brands chimed in. Last year, NFTs started to make waves, becoming the hottest topic on everyone’s timelines. Collectibles became all the rage, prompting brands like Adidas, Twitter, and more to produce their own NFT collections. Joining the hype is global e-commerce titan eBay, working in partnership with OneOf.

Although most trends burn bright and fizzle fast, NFTs have continued their momentum with established brands producing their own collections. More than just a global e-commerce leader, eBay is also a longtime leader in the collectibles space; and its collaboration with OneOf is driven by the goal of maintaining an open marketplace and making high-value collectibles more accessible.

OneOf is a premier green NFT platform for communities that stretch across music, sports, and lifestyle. By partnering with OneOf, eBay combines its global reach and unmatched inventory with its eco-conscious Web3 technology to continue bringing a seamless experience that allows enthusiasts to buy and sell high-passion and high-value items confidently.

eBay’s first-ever “Genesis” NFT collection will feature 3D rendered animations of iconic athletes that have appeared on Sports Illustrated covers over the years, including record-breaking Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

The collection includes thirteen limited-edition digital collectibles such as green, gold, platinum, and diamond-tier NFTs. However, unlike the majority of NFTs, Genesis cannot be purchased with cryptocurrency. Instead, prospective holders can get them with U.S. dollars, starting at $10. In addition, the green tier NFTs have up to 299 editions, while the highly-coveted diamond tiers have over 15 editions.

“NFTs and blockchain technology are revolutionizing the collectible space and are increasingly viewed as an investment opportunity for enthusiasts,” said Dawn Block, eBay VP Collectibles, Electronics, and Home. “Through our partnership with OneOf, eBay is now making coveted NFTs more accessible to a new generation of collectors everywhere. This builds upon our commitment to deliver high-passion, high-value items to the eBay community of buyers and sellers.”

Lin Dai, CEO of OneOf, also said: “We are excited to partner with eBay, the largest and most trusted e-commerce platform in the world, to introduce NFTs and the power of the blockchain to eBay’s community of enthusiasts through a dynamic, user-friendly experience. You don’t have to be a crypto expert to buy, sell, and collect NFTs. OneOf and eBay are bringing transformative Web3 technology to the next 100M non-crypto-native mass consumers.”
