Samsung has now plunged into the virtual realm, just like any other giant who seeks expansion on its worldwide presence.

The electronics behemoth has introduced its first-ever store in the Metaverse. Samsung unveiled that it had extended its store into Decentraland, a virtual world among the list of crypto’s most renowned, in a press release on Thursday, January 6.

Modeled on the firm’s flagship physical store based on 837 Washington Street in New York City, the store is named “Samsung 837X.” Samsung also says in the press release, “It is one of the largest brand land takeovers in Decentraland.”

The Metaverse mania that began in the last months of 2021 has been a huge benefit for Decentraland. Following Facebook’s rebranding to Meta, from $1 billion, its market cap skyrocketed to roughly $6.9 billion as enthusiasts dash to purchase its MANA token.

In addition to this, Decentraland possesses a lot of high-profile residents, with icons like Snoop Dogg and the Winklevoss twins owning digital lands in its Metaverse. Presently, Samsung has taken its jumpstart to join these celebrities.

The Samsung 837X store will provide a distinctive virtual journey via the “Connectivity Theater” and the “Sustainability Forest.” In addition, the users will be able to accomplish quests to receive 837X NFT badges.

The Connectivity Theater will exhibit Samsung’s news from the Consumer Electronics Show. It will run from January 5 through January 8. Conversely, the Sustainability Forest will be a “spectacular portal where guests can embark on a journey through millions of trees—and even have a mythic encounter,” stated the company.

The multinational electronics behemoth is also beneficially planting trees in the real world, actively fighting against climate change. Samsung Electronics America has announced a collaboration with the Cardano-based climate restoration platform Veritree on January 3. By the end of March this year, the partnership’s objective is to plant two million trees in Madagascar.

Samsung is planning to arrange a mixed reality live dance party hosted from the original 837 in Manhattan by DJ Gamma Vibes to celebrate the launch of the 837X store in Decentraland.

“At Samsung 837X, we’re excited to tell our connectivity, sustainability, and customization stories in a novel way, in a one-of-a-kind space. The Metaverse empowers us to transcend physical and spatial limits to create unique virtual experiences that could not happen otherwise. Innovation is in our DNA, and we can’t wait for you all to experience this burgeoning virtual world,” said Samsung’s VP of marketing and communications, Michelle Crossan-Matos remarking about the expansion to the metaverse world.
